Today was pretty eventful for being without a car. Once again I am grateful to have the most wonderful fiance. I was able to use Chris's car to take a good friend of mine shopping. We went to Virgin Megastore and to The Buffalo Exchange. It was a lot of fun, but then again, I cannot think of shopping as anything else. I purchased a Breakfast Club poster that will be framed and put on the same wall as my Singin' in the Rain and Say Anything posters in the office once I move in with Chris.
Note*The best way to bear the heat of a hot, Texas summer is with a Sonic Orange Cream Smoothie!
Now for the movie review:
I just saw The Fantastic Four. The only thing I really knew going in was that the cast was super hot and it was yet another Marvel Comic movie. The last comic movies I thoroughly enjoyed were the two X-Men films. Fantastic Four quickly jumped ahead of both of those movies. It really is kind of hard to compare them, but I was delightfully entertained by this movie. I laughed and at times I thought, "THAT WAS AWESOME!" Let us start with the cast. The Thing was of course the kick butt Michael Chiklis. I feel no one could have better "clobberin'" moments in any movie, and I will always love "the commish." Chris Evans. . .I really hope to see him in more films soon. His carefree attitude was "flamin'." The absolutely beautiful Jessica Alba played a role that made her invisible? How much sense does that make? I don't even mind Chris, my fiance, drooling over her because she is just a beautiful person. Although ladies, I must warn you that she is seen in only her underwear for a split second so your men may have a "special moment" during the film. I will have to control myself while discussing the last two characters. It really is difficult to choose who is more handsome and charming. Julian McMahon has had a special place in my heart since Charmed. I guess he is just "doomed" to always play the bad guy. Fortunately he has that smooth, sly demeanor that allows him to be so darn good at it.
Mr. Fantastic gets his own paragraph because Ioan Gruffudd deserves it and that is no "stretch" of the imagination. There is so much I could say. He had an endearingly sweet personality that made me just fall in love with Reed Richards, I didn't care that he was a science geek. I really do not feel that my words alone could possibly do Ioan justice so you must visit this site: www.ioanonline.com and look at the photo galleries. I love my fiance, but for a brief moment in time I would have given "all the tea in China" to be Mrs. Fantastic.
The plot was well put together and I liked how they handled the Thing's issues with his appearance. Even though the background to their mutations was a bunch of science mumbo-jumbo, I never felt lost or ignorant. These characters were easy to identify with even with their supernatural abilities. That is why I adore this movie like I do. I do hope for a sequel. There was even the small love plot which was the "icing on the cake." I encourage everyone to see and enjoy this film, and because of the love story I can still gage the quality in hearts. I easily give Fantastic Four 4 1/2 out of 5 hearts.
