I need to apologize for my absent entry from last night. I did not do a whole lot, but I did crash out into a mega deep nap and that ate up a lot of my evening. We did get a pretty harsh storm and we lost power. It rained for about an hour. Any rain in the summer is okay to me.
As ordered:) I watched The Notebook and, after a night to recover, I am ready to review it:
Ah Ryan Gosling, how fondly I remember thee from the ole days on the Mickey Mouse Club. It really is a shame that you were overlooked while your peers: Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera quickly sky rocketed into their musical careers. I am glad you held out for the movies because, as my friend Jess would say, I could just "take a bite out of you!"
Rachel McAdams is a marvelous up and coming actress. She truly has a talent for acting. I really despised her in Mean Girls, she was adorable in this movie, and I am looking forward to her performance in Wedding Crashers.
The movie is based on a Nicholas Sparks book which automatically means two things: there is going to be a very powerful love affair and someone with get sick or die. That is perhaps why I took so long to see this one. It was a good, heart warming and breaking film. To see Ryan's character love Rachel's character so much reinforces what all women hope to find in their soul mate. My heart even ached for him while he was in bed with another woman. I did shed a few tears by the end of this film and without giving anything away, I was minorly depressed at the ending. Sweet as it was, I would have liked something a little more positive as the last image in my mind. Ladies, if you have not done it yet, go and see this movie. Just make sure you are in your pajamas and snuggle up into bed to watch this one. This movie definitely makes the "Great Chick Flicks in the Deep South" along side films like: Fried Green Tomatoes, Steel Magnolias, and A Walk to Remember. I give this one 4 out of 5 hearts.
