Pre-4th Excitement

The best part about being Texan is the great tan I can get during the summer. I'm hoping that I'll have a nice even tone to my skin by my wedding. The bronzer is working out wonderfully! My Mary Kay consultant is a genius.

Church was great today. I really enjoyed the talk about having a child's mind with regards to faith. Lunch was at Panera after Mass and it was perfect. There was not a huge crowd, the food was served quickly, and the food was delicious. I'm starting to really favor all the "upscale" sandwich shops. If you are at Corner Bakery, order the Uptown Turkey, as a matter of fact I really like turkey and swiss with cold sandwiches. For good hot sandwiches I recommend Which Wich because ordering on the bags is fun and the pastrami is excellent.

I came home and worked on wedding ceremony stuff. It turns out that the wedding is under three months away and I have not adjusted my mind for that yet. With such a long engagement I have been able to be kind of relaxed about planning. Now I'm too relaxed and the day is fast approaching. Thank God I have my wedding angels looking out for me to keep me on track! Friendship is something I am glad I will always be blessed with in my life.

So today I went to a pool party in Richardson, the city I hate. The atmosphere was fun and the people knew how to PAR-TEE. You just can't go wrong with alcohol and swimming. I discovered the coolest thing ever! A floating bar and chairs for the swimming pool was in the middle of the water. The chairs were comfy for those that could balance, Chris, my fiance, was bad at this, and the bar had places for drinks and ice chests. I will be heading to Bed, Bath, and Beyond to pick one up. I'm spoiled now because Chris has a pool at his condo. We will have to have a pool when we get a house.

I got home and was expecting the place to be the cool 73 degrees that my dad keeps the thermostat at, but to my surprise it was hotter inside than outside. At 9:00 P.M. my father was installing a new air conditioning unit! The fun part came when my mother was outside with him and one cell phone talking to me, who was inside at the thermostat, on another cell phone. Nothing brings a family together like Texas heat and a busted AC unit. I think I will be sleeping in the refrigerator tonight. Whoever said, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," obviously lived near an arctic circle.

No movie tonight, but perhaps a favorite poem of mine from Disney's version of The Reluctant Dragon:

Poor little upside down cake
Problems, yep, you gottem,
Because little upside down cake
Your Top is on your Bottom.

Oh little upside down cake
Your woes will never stop,
Dear, sweet little upside down cake
For your Bottom is your Top.

Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week! Don't forget to tip your waitress.
